When it Comes to SEO Content Original is the King
It is well known that to make the almighty Google happy and get them to crawl all over your website or blog; you have to put out content…and a lot of it. However, this doesn’t mean you should just shoot out random junk…aka fluff. In fact, when it comes to creating content, original content is king.
Honestly, there is no other place to look than Google to know why you should create original content when you are in the middle of an SEO campaign. Google loves original content and rewards it too. It’s actually Google’s mission to provide its users with useful content…that translates to original content.
In order to create original content with an SEO edge, you should first look at what your target audience is looking for. Or another way to look at it is what do you want to tell your target audience about? This can be something new and exciting in the industry you cover, or it could be solving a problem. Once you know what approach you want to take, then you can do some keyword research and get to creating that all-important original content.
You might be wondering if you really do need original content. After all, there is so much content online. Will anyone notice if you borrow ideas from your competitors? Well, the short answer is yes…Google will. Remember, Google has to want to crawl your website or blog, and once it does, it will expect to see fresh, thought-provoking, and original content. Should you choose to push the envelope and try to add lots of fluff, then you will get smacked down in the rankings by Google…in a heartbeat.
So yes, creating original content is more time-consuming and a lot more thought-provoking than regurgitating someone else’s work in a rearranged fashion. But the time spent will be well worth it in terms of Google rankings which adds to the number of clicks you’ll get, which will then, of course, add to sales. With SEO, and Google, in particular, there are no shortcuts, and being original with your content is the only way to go.
